Willow Moon Shamanism FAQs Page
What exactly is Shamanism?
Shamanism is one of the world’s oldest spiritual healing traditions, dating back over 100,000 years. At Willow Moon Shamanism, I view this as active co-creation with the spirit realm and primordial remembering—connecting with the unseen world and the spirits of nature to restore balance, power, and soul essence to the individual. It is not a religion, but an ancient spiritual practice that is deeply interconnected, and in deep reverence with and for Mother Earth and all that is, with the knowing that we are all connected as one, as a beautiful thread in the web of life.
Do I need to be "spiritual" to benefit from a session?
Not at all. While the work happens in the spiritual realm, the results are felt in the physical and emotional body. Whether you are looking for deep soul healing or simply feel "stuck" in your life, the only requirement is an open mind and a willingness to participate in your own healing journey.
What happens during a typical session?
Every session is unique, but generally, we begin with a brief conversation to set your intention. While you relax comfortably (fully clothed), I use rhythmic drumming or rattling to enter a "shamanic state of consciousness." From there, I may perform:
Power Animal Retrieval: Reconnecting you with a protective spirit guide.
Soul Retrieval: Bringing back fragments of your essence lost through trauma or stress.
Extraction: Removing heavy or stagnant energies that don’t belong to you or any of the other sacred Shamanic services that I offer.
Will I see visions or go into a trance?
While I will be in a light trance state to do the work, you will remain fully awake and aware. Some clients do see images, feel tingling, warmth, or see colors; others simply feel a deep sense of peace. There is no "right" way to experience this as we are all very unique individuals.
Preparation: Avoid heavy meals or caffeine 2 hours before we meet.
What to Wear: Loose, comfortable clothing. Think "yoga-relaxed."
Aftercare: Drink plenty of water and allow for quiet integration time and self care post-session. This can vary but will usually be up to 48 hours as everything settles into your own energy body.
Frequency: Some find clarity in one session; others prefer several or even seasonal "tune-ups."
Is Shamanism a replacement for therapy or medicine?
No. Shamanic healing addresses the spiritual roots of illness and trauma. It is a powerful complement to modern medicine and psychotherapy, but it should never replace the advice of your doctor or mental health professional. We work on the level of the soul to support your overall well-being.
Can we work together remotely?
Yes! In the shamanic worldview, time and space are fluid. Distance Healing is just as effective as in-person work, as the energetic body is accessible regardless of physical location. These sessions are conducted via Zoom or Teams.
A Note on the Name: The Willow represents flexibility, adaptability, resiliency, grace, and deep roots, while the Moon represents the cycles, emotional depth, and constant changes, just as life is forever changing. At Willow Moon Shamanism, I help you find your footing in the dark so you can grow toward the light, just like the Willow and the Moon will always return bringing light into darkness.
